To ensure low-risk transition in leadership from international to local implementing partners
On this grant, Caritas Nigeria managed a total of 10 SDFs with 10 satellite sites. She was responsible for managing funds, coordinating, supervising and reporting activities in these health facilities.
In addition to the three facilities transited to Caritas Nigeria under the AIDSRelief project, eight service delivery facilities were added, with the eight satellite facilities involved in the provision of PMTCT and HTC, the facilities are as follows:
- Anthony's Hospital, Zaki Biam, Benue State
- Mary's Hospital, Okpoga, Benue State
- Monica's Hospital, Adipko, Benue State
- Thomas Ihugh, Benue State
- John’s Hospital Kabba, Kogi State
- Louis Hospital Zonkwa, Kaduna State
- Francis’ Hospital Jambuttu, Adamawa State
- Gembu Centre for HIV/AIDS Advocacy Nigeria (GECHAAN), Taraba State.
CHARIS worked to integrate FBO-managed HIV services into the national response by progressively increasing the level of supervisory oversight, technical support and material inputs provided by FBOs to government agencies at national, state and local government levels.
The project successfully advocated for the institution of public-private partnerships as a key strategy for improving coverage of HIV interventions, and strengthened the administrative, financial, human resource and program management capacities of the FBOs to provide a strong base for implementation of these partnerships. These efforts were part of an interfaith solution resulting in an expanded, more sustainable national HIV and AIDS response.
