In Ekiti State, Caritas Nigeria, in collaboration with Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, flagged off the distribution of agricultural inputs to smallholder farmers in Ise-Orum Ekiti LGA of Ekiti State. Over 88 farmers benefitted from a prior capacity strengthening in climate-smart agriculture and received knapsack sprayed, cowpea, and maize to enhance their farming processes and overall productivity.
The distribution exercise was conducted as part of our Building Sustainable Livelihoods for Vibrant Communities (B-SLiC) project in its second year. The communities' response to the initiative was positive, with the beneficiaries expressing their gratitude for the support which would undoubtedly impact their livelihoods and their families' well-being.
In attendance at the event was the Provincial Leader of St. Louis, Chairman of Ise-Orion LGA, The Royal Fathers: Arinjale of Ise and Oluwuro of Orun, Baale of Afulo; Chief Jude Ibikunle and other members of the community. Collaborations and community engagements contribute to grassroots resilience, promote self-sufficiency, and foster sustainable development, particularly in rural areas where agriculture plays a significant role.
